got 1st fill on weds since being banded(july 31st 2009)

i cooked toast this morning cause i was hungry

hmm well here comes the tight feeling in my chest and a few mins later the slime feeling.. 1. i'm assuming i definitely ate it too fast, yes thats my mistake and 2. its toast

well i tried getting the feeling out without having it come up, tried patting my chest had my mom pat my back, i walked back and forth, none of those helped, even tried standing up as tall as i could which usually helps NOPE!

so i leaned over to see if it would help NOPE came up, got the "i feel like i gotta puke" feeling kept trying to avoide puking, but it came up and it was clear slimey with no parts of the toast just milk, the second time it came up it had some cinamon in it, it was so nasty.i still feel like i need to puke but not a PB version but that a productive burp right? how many times do you puke it up when you get it? now i feel a little shakey and a little sick, is that normal?...and my gallbladder pain started before i ate the toast but went away and now that that happened it came back..?

Hi Erin,

That was definitely a stuck episode and what many refer to as a PB.

To me, my definition is a bit different. A PB is just that, a BURP that produces something.

When I get stuck like that, it may take a few urps to bring it up. I can always tell if "it" came up by what came out. As you said, at first it was just slime, so whatever was stuck wasn't there. I had one piece of something come up that was shaped like a cork. I knew it had come out! When I stand up after spewing, if it came out, I feel MUCH better. If it didn't come out, I still feel stuck.

My personal methods for getting unstuck once it is clear that it will not be going down:

Drink down about 4 oz of Water, I mean chug it--this almost always immediately comes back up, and usually brings the offending item with it. Do be over a sink when you try this, because you will have no response time.

Leaning over at the waist over a toilet and working my stomach muscles will often bring it up.

Last but not least is a finger down the throat. If you do this over a public toilet, beware of splash back! I got hit in the eye twice by the plop. Best defense is to place a seat protector in the Water before letting loose. That stops the splash.

All of that scares me so much! :) I hope this isn't something that will happen often. (As long as I am following the rules best I can)

Welcome to Slimeville :)

Depending upon what you get stuck on it can hurt and hurt a lot. meat hurts more than bread or Pasta.

Following the rules and paying attention while eating are the best defenses. Also, if you STOP eating as soon as you feel any pain it will often go down without becoming an issue. It is when I ignore the slight signal that something is sort of stuck and I keep eating that I run into trouble. However, sometimes--it cannot be avoided.

I didn't mean to scare, but sliming and sticking are facts of banded life.

But, I'll take a stuck episode every once in a while in trade for all the benefits I have gained from being banded.

I got stuck yesterday in a restaurant again. This time it was because I was being polite as usual

Somebody asked me a question while I was eating and to avoid being too rude, I immediately swallowed what I was chewing to reply with an empty mouth. OOPS!!

Fortunately, I was almost done eating anyways. Then I sat there making small talk like nothing was wrong as the slime level rose. I excused myself 10 minutes later and booked to the toilet to get rid of the excess. Another 10 minutes of talking outside the restaurant and I walked back to my car to get rid of some more slime in the parking. Twenty minute drive home and I hacked up the piece of chicken that was stuck.

I get stuck way too often, at least twice a week and it is ALWAYS out of carelessness.

My coworkers are all used to it and think it's funny when I get back from lunch; pull the waste bucket between my legs at my desk and spit slime for 30 minutes.

I HATE when that happens! I have done that so many times. Eating in groups scares me for that reason. I get so involved in the conversation that I forget what I am doing and...dang it!

But gosh, BT, I remember when you could not wait to get stuck and slime!

I'm an idiot. I still don't really mind when it happens except for the dry meat and fish. The painful ones that make you feel like a vampire getting staked.

I didn't really understand what yall were talking about until yesterday when I got STUCK. I was driving down the road eating waffle fries, and thought I chewed them up good, but guess I didn't. It really scared me at first and since I was driving I didn't know what to do. I remembered reading on here about the saliva and sliming, so I took the bag my food was in (I took the food out) and started spitting in it. By the time I got home and spit some more I was over it. It was a reminder to stay on my diet and chew, chew, chew, and chew again.

More importantly; do NOT eat while driving!

You have to pay attention to your eating now and you can't do that and pay attention to the road at the same time.

But now that you've slimed, isn't it fun. You should see the way it behaves in the toilet. It's like a jellyfish or transparent eel. :cursing:

BT is right, driving and eating with a band is not a good combo.

But also, fries and bands don't always mix well, either. If you stick (no pun intended) around here for a while, you'll see people getting stuck on them often. I think it is the texture, it must glob together again after chewing and form a plug. One of the few junk foods that doesn't slide right down.

BT, love the vampire reference....very true, never thought of it that way!

It can start a vicious cycle with me. I pb one day and then have to be super careful for a day or nothing stays down. Before I know it, i can be needing an unfill. I wish there was a way to reduce the swelling after a pb.

I'm wondering, I haven't pb'd before, but I do slime. do yall know what causes the sliming? too fast, too much? certain kinds of foods? and what the heck is it?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
