I was banded June 7th and have lost around 24 pounds. Most of it was pre-op and one week post-op. I had some lower ab pain right after surgery and now it is awful. I have been to my ob/gyn and got an ultrasound of my ovaries, no problem. Today, I went to my regular dr. and he ordered a CT scan of my abdomen, no problem. I now have an appt. with my lap-band doctor Monday. Anyone else experience this? It is like a pull or cramp and it hurts. It is getting worse and no one seems to know what it is, not even my dr.s nurse, that is why I am seeing them Monday. I should be feeling fine and exercising and doing all sorts of things, but I can barely move around. Any suggestions? :)

My guess would be, hopefully, dietary issues. Not to ask TMI, but are you gassy or constipated or the opposite? Have you tried gas-x? I hope this is the simple answer! I really doubt its the band itself because it is at the top of your stomache. Feel better soon and let us know how you made out with your tests/doctors!

I felt the same thing about 1 1/2 weeks post op. When I called my surgeon's office they told me that the pain was normal (part of healing) Supposedly mine was tissue healing around my port or something like that. I was told to take some the pain meds given at the hospital and to rest. I did and felt better about a week later. My pain was in my lower left side of my abdomin. I still feel it sometimes when I walk but I can tolerate it.

I had the same pains too around the same time you did. I never found out what it was but it did pass. Feel better!

Thanks for your responses. Everything is working fine, some normal gas. I am taking the meds my regular doctor prescribed and I am a little better, but still in pain. I walk like an old lady and if I drop something it takes me about a minute to bend over and pick it up. Hopefully they will be able to tell me something Monday. I don't know where my port is and was wondering if it was that. Thanks!

Could it be a hernia?

I had the same pain! I posted about it a few weeks ago. It is a funny pain b/c it is not where the surgery was. I called my doc and they said all sorts of abdominal pain is normal. I said "even in the lower abdomen?!?" They said yes! Every one heals different and you can feel pain from the sugery all over. Mine went away about 5 days after I first really noticed it. I too was very sore. I felt like I had pulled a muscle down there!

I hope you feel better :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
