Do You Ever Wish You WEREN'T Banded?

Recommended Posts

That's exactly how I feel - the idea of always having to watch what I eat - for the rest of my life - Yikes!

And as you say, it's a great reminder of how I ended up in this to begin with - I have lost weight in the past but then allowed my eating habits to fall right back to what they were before.

The permanent life change scares the s*&t out of me to be honest. I'm not the least afraid of having surgery, but I am afraid of having to change for the better permanantly. Its provided me with significant insight into why I've never been successful at losing weight before, basically I'm afraid to change.

Thanks so much for this post. I'm waiting for insurance approval and have wondered the same thing. Thanks to all of you for your honesty...it's helpful. I appreciate knowing (as much as we can before the actual experience) what to expect. I know there will probably be a "what the hell did I do to myself??" stage and that it will pass. It's comforting to know that most of you don't regret your decision and that it's most likely a wise decision for me, too. The one thing I worry about is that, like Candysmooch, I'll be one of the people it doesn't seem to work well for. Then I just do the Dr. Phil thing "how's it working for you?" and know that what I've been doing really ISN'T working, so the band is my best option.

I love the way everyone here is supportive of each other regardless of their place on the journey. Thanks!

Emily

I have to admit - at a few events in the beginning -I was mad at the band! I was lost not making a big party about the food. I was totally out of my comfort zone. they were a few tough days. Why me, why an I fat, how could I do this to myself, and shame for never finding the control on my own.

I just went to a big Christening at a catering hall and I had a great time and the food was truly a sencondary thought for the day.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
