Anybody have any experiences, advise, input on them? My insurance goes into effect with them on July 19 :) and i've yet to read about any WLS exclusions. My consult is July 26 with Dr. Pearlman in Denver...so excited! however just curious if anyone has had any dealings with them.

The best way to find accurate information quickly is to contact your insurance company directly and ask them if they cover the surgery. They will ask for your ID#/Group# so that they can specifically look at your plan. That's what I did and they cover it. I have BCBS TX. Insurance varies depending on employer inclusions and exclusions.

That's why i was curious. I don't have my plan yet, only the group number. I just have general information here at work. But congrats! At least i know BCBS generally does cover it. So we will see. :)

I think we are in a similar situation. I was laid off and then rehired, but since it has been a while I have a waiting period for my insurance to become active again. My HR manager isn't the brightest bulb in the socket so she doesn't know if WLS is excluded. I am waiting on my paperwork from Independence Blue Cross so I can know for sure.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
