I was told to wait 2 weeks but this is definitely a question to ask your surgeon.

Please ask your surgeon. I was also told 2 weeks. I would also say that I would do freestyle versus breaststroke.

Mine said 2-3 weeks before surgery. At my post-op visit, he said 3. That turned out to be right, as my incision did not fully heal until about 3 weeks.

Went swimming yesterday for the first time since surgery, in fact! My kids were ecstatic!! :)

I was banded on July 6. The PA at the hospital said a week because of the surgical glue they use now. I havent gone in but am itching to. It is gonna be over 100 degrees tomorrow and I always get alot of swimming company on days like that

Don't see the Doc again until Thursday. Probably wise to wait and ask him.

Anyone else hear anything about the surgical glue and not having to wait for complete heal???

I had to wait 3 weeks. Ask your surgeon. The last thing you want is for any of your incisions to get infected which could lead to your port being infected then you need to go thru all of this again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
