I am having trouble with ulcers on my tongue. It's usually one or two at the time but they are sooo painful and last for about two weeks. I am doing the Lysine tablets and that seems to help, but I really want to know why they are happening. Any thoughts??

Those do hurt!!! If they're really bad call your doctor. I thought I had a mouthfull of them a couple of years ago after I hurt my back. I'd been on painkillers and thought "Of course, I need another pain" but I actually had oral thrush and needed medication to get rid of it. It was like having those ulcers all over my tongue and even on the inside of my lip.

so if you notice a ton of them probably a good idea to check with your doctor!

Good luck

I was told by my nurse they are caused by stress because I just got a couple on my tongue a few days ago so I asked about it. I'm stressed because I've told so many people who know me about my lap-band that they are starting to ask how much I've lost and I'm stressed because I haven't had my first fill yet and I am wondering if they are thinking I'm not losing enough to make a difference, I haven't had my fill yet.

I have been stressed lately, but it has eased up in the last week or two and I'm getting weekends at the beach to unwind so it doesn't make sense to me. I have doubled up on the Flintstones for a few days to just in case I was deficient in something. I may have to have a little bloodwork done to check my levels.

Miss Lisa-I only shared my surgery with people I knew would be supportive of me. It is hard to be "watched" and when they ask constantly how much you've lost, it's totally annoying. Turn it around on them, "No really, how much have YOU lost??!!" They'll get the hint. They are being insensitive not supportive if they keep asking.

I don't happen to be particularly stressed about anything and I've gotten two just recently. I've never had a cold sore or anything like this before. My dental hygenist suggested it might be a Vitamin K deficiency which would suggest eating more leafy greens.

Both this and the foot/toe/calf cramps I get at night are diet related. I wish I had someone to analyze my diet. If you get anymore insight let me know!

the foot/calf cramps are a lack of potassium, that one I know for sure because it happens to me all the time! if you make sure to have broccolli or potatoe or banana every day you won't have that happen at night. with me it wakes me right up if I don't have one of those 3 foods the day before!

I hope the apthus ulcers are getting better today. If they continue to be a problem you should see your dentist. They do have a good OTC rinse that you can get at Walmart and I can not think of the name. It comes in green envelope type packages.

I think it is called Rinsenol.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
