Actually, I am just the opposite. I didn't have high blood pressure to begin with (120/82 typically) but now it has gone down to about 112/75.

hmmmm interesting you bring this up - I have no idea if it relates to the surgery, but before banding I was always around 120/70............at each fill apt. my BP has been so much higher like 130/80 one time and another it was even as high as 140/90. Never had problems with it pre-band although it does run in the family. Dunno - I should get it checked more often.

After surgery you're probably full to the brim of saline pumped into you via the IV, that can put your blood pressure up a bit. It should come back to normal as you get rid of all the extra Fluid.< /p>

Are you still on liquids, or are you eating/drinking alot of canned Soup? There was a post earlier today that I saw where the poster went back to liquids due to a fill, and was surprised at both her weight gain and how her face looked.

Turns out, she was eating a lot of canned Soup, which she realized was really high in sodium.

So check out what you are eating/drinking - maybe it's high in sodium, and that, combined with the saline from surgery, are what's causing the high blood pressure.

Just a thought!

I'm still on liquid. But this morning i went to my dr. and my blood pressure was 180/110 very high. He give me pill. Normally i make my Soup at home with out salt. The only thing that i drink a lot of is Gatorade. Maybe is the Gatorade!!!

Gatorade has a lot of sodium in. It is meant to replenish fluids lost due to excessive excercise and strenuous activities. I would back off the Gatorade and limit it to maybe 1 serving a day if at all. Drink plenty of Water...even Propel or Fruit2o would be good alternatives. Crystal Light and sugar free Kool Aid are also good alternatives if you prefer something with flavor.

My BP was always high and I've been on medications for years for it. At my last appointment, my BP was really, really good. Maybe I'll be off of one more med? WooHoo. Just one of the many great side effects from having the band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
