Have any of you tried scallops since being banded and how did it go? I have been eating shrimp, crab, and hard boiled eggs w/no problem (thinking of things w/a similar texture).

I've been craving scallops and my husband and I are going out for a fancy dinner on Friday. I saw scallops on the menu. I'm sure they'll be the big tender ones. I'm just hesitating because I don't normally try anything 'new' when I'm out. What do you think?

I had scallops on Sunday, July 4. I cut them into 4ths. They were okay for me at that point. Enjoy!!

Yay! So glad to hear scallops are not a problem food. I thought they should be good since I can eat shrimp and crab. I'm looking forward to having them tonight. I never make scallops at home because my husband doesn't like them.

Tried scallops, the big tender ones about a month or so ago. They were fine, I cut them up into the right size pieces. They were so tender that they just melted. I think you'll be safe ordering them!

I have much trouble with most meats, but scallops work great!

Enjoy!

I always screw them up when I cook them at home. Any of you scallop lovers have cooking methods to share?

Oh..humming bird I get them at Sam's Club..they are already pre-packaged with the bacon on them..just put them on a baking pan and throw them in the oven..they are the nice big ones..not the little ones I saw the other night at the grocery store. Other than that I put scallops in gumbo or chowder if you want either of those recipes..not sure if either of those are band friendly (calorie wise and such). I don't eat either of those I just make them for my husband..nice wife I am??

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
