So I went for my 1st fill today, Surgery was May 25th. Dr couldn't get the fill so sent me to the hospital. They said that it has "flipped" or "disconnected". Now I have to have that corrected on Monday.

Did I do something wrong? I followed all of the instructions like no excercise (with the exception of walking) for 2 weeks after surgery. I've "cheated" a little food wise but nothing major and that shouldn't affect the port anyway right?

I'm just irritated and just wanted to see if anyone else was having issues. At least I'm not in pain...only from the DR sticking me several times today. But whatever I guess just a bump in the road and more $$$ out.

a few hours ago I went to see my dr and found out my port has flipped and will be having the correction done in a few weeks, he said that 1 in 20 people can have this occur and they aren't certain of why it happens, could be exercise, lifting something heavy, a stitch breaks, many things. Super disappointing, I'm 2 years post surgery and now this!! He said its an easy fix and he hasn't ever had someone have this issue twice (lets hope!)

Sorry to hear that the post has flipped. What a shame you need to have more surgery to get it fixed.

No, you didn't do anything wrong. They put the port behind your stomach muscles, and your muscles are supposed to hold it in place. For some people, it doesn't work out the first time. Your doctor will find a stronger place to hold the port this time.

that is exactly what I've been afraid of lately, now that the swelling is gone the port feels different so I keep wondering if it moved, and the band too the first time I slept on the left side I woke right up I could feel the stitches pulling and now I can't feel it at all. Can that become disconnected or slide out of place?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
