Just banded JULY 1st

Recommended Posts

I was banded on July 1st by Dr. Hill in Saranac Lake, NY. I was having trouble with my medications sticking and clogging the stoma. Wow did that ever hurt!! But I learned to go much slower with my pills (minutes rather than seconds) and they seem to be going ok now. I have received some conflicting information on when to go from Clear Liquids to creamy ones. One dietitian and the Lap band for Life book say two weeks post op. The hospital dietitian sent me home with a list where after the first couple of days, I can go to Protein Shakes. So, which is right?

Call your MD for clarification, you will find here that there is no set rule each doc is different. Congrats on being banded, I will officially be apart of the family on July 14th:thumbup:

I was banded on the 1st as well and I started Protein Shakes on about the 3rd or fourth day. To be sure I would call my doctors office though. Good luck.

 CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I'd talk to your doctor about which is right. I come to find everyone has different directions on when to start what.

Good Luck in your new Journey!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
