Hey guys, I'm new here, banded on 6/29/10. So far it's been a bit rough. I was in a lot of pain for 4 days after the surgery. The gas pain was unbearable, and the incisions were right through my ab muscles. I remember thinking that I would be in pain forever, and feeling so depressed for electing to put myself through it. It did get better though, I'm still sore, but it's completely tolerable now. I'm just starting the mushy foods, which is a welcome relief. Right now, although I'm not restricted, I can feel the tightness. It's a very strange sensation. My pouch feels full, and I often find myself burping, while my stomach is completely empty. It's so strange. But I recognize my soft stop, and I've been really cautious about how slowly I eat. It's definite change but I'm excited! Hope for all the support from you guys! Thanks, Marissa

Hey Marrisa, I too was banded 6/29/10. I wasn't in as much pain as you were, but I did have major gas. It has subsided a bit now. I am empty still as well. Up until today, I really didn't feel hungry. I am still on full liquid, per Dr.s orders. I see him Friday 7/5/10 and so hope I will be advanced to mushies. Best of luck to you my fellow Bandster!

Hey Marisa and everyone else! I was also banded on 6/29 and my recovery has been similiar, except I didn't get the major gas pains. I had gas, but I stayed on top of the gas-x and walked, even on the first day.

I'm still feeling full after very small meals, I can't even finish a Protein shake!

I was bad though and I had a sandwich yesterday. I'm not even supposed to be on mushies yet. Oops!! It was OK though, it took me almost an hour to eat it and you can bet I chewed it to nothing! By the time I swallowed, it was like a soup! I wouldn't recommend it though, rule breaking that is. I was dumb and it's not going to happen again!!

Anyway, keep walking and hope everyone has great success!!

I too was band the 29th. Not much pain and gas pains were tolerable. Still on Clear Liquids and will be until tues. next week and then full liquids. I do get hungry but fluids will fill me up and if I take it too fast I burp! Keep walking and take that Gas-X!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
