1 month post op weight gain

Recommended Posts

I am exactly 4 weeks post op i lost 20 lbs and in one week gained 6 lbs. I am trying to stick to the diet but having a hard time. During the day I am not hungry at all but as soon as I set foot in the house I'm starving. Weekends are the worst since I don't have an active social life Im in the the house thinking of food constantly. has anyone else experience this. My first fill is not until the end of July I am truly disappointed in myself and embarrassed that I have fallen off already. I am willing to listen to all suggestions. Please give me some guidance.

Can you call your doctor and tell them whats going on and see if you can get a fill sooner? I gained 2 pounds one week and called my doc. I got my 2nd fill two weeks after my first one because my swelling went down a few days after my first till. All i did was call the office and they told me to come in that day!

Do NOT have the food in the house and you won't crave it as much and when you do, it won't be there for you to devour.

Try to keep just enough food for 6 meals or so and remember if you eat tomorrows lunch you will have to either go out or go without.

It's time to start playing a mental game with yourself.

I was banded May 13, 2010. The first couple of weeks, I wasnt even hungry. Since then though, I notice my hunger is coming back. I have had to keep close track of my calories to make sure I don't over eat. Before you start getting fills and feel restriction, you really have to keep track of what you're eating. I have my first fill on July 8 and am scared, yet excited. I'm hearing once you get to that "sweet spot", it gets easier. Just hang in there! I have noticed that exercising has really helped boost my metabolism. I do alot of walking!

My Dr's. instructions say if you're having hunger or experiencing weight gain to call his office. It may be time for a fill (early).

I understand the home thing- home is the worst for me as well. I am in bandster hell and it is tough. I did a few things to help with this ... I got rid of the bad foods as much as I could, I post on here and hope that it passes and I exercise...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
