HELP! wants to be prepared

Recommended Posts

Hello I was reading some earlier posts about restriction and the feeling they were having after a fill. I am a newbie and was recently banded on June 28th. I guess my question is when you do receive a fill(s) how do you know your getting that restriction feeling? What does it feel like?

And another thing that interest me is I've heard on here the dreaded "stuck" feeling you may get after eating. How do you know when that is happening? What does that feel like? Because that sounds awful!

Thanks for any answers you can give me that can help me succeed in the future. Knowing something about the coming events will definitely help!

Everyone's precise sensations are going to vary somewhat, especially depending on the degree of the situation.

Basically if you eat a banded persons normal serving you should feel satisfied - not stuffed, but not hungry.

If after eating something you have pain/pressure that is constant you may be stuck. Nothing is moving in either direction. I can tell for sure by trying to force a burp - if no air moves - you're stuck.

Getting stuck is either the result of being overfilled or having made an eating mistake that you will not soon forget.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
