I have been banded for 4 days and am wondering how much Protein is appropriate. My nutritionist said at least 60 grams a day. I am drinking Isopure Low Carb Protein which gives me 50 grams in 1 shake. I am getting the other 10 grams from skim milk. So far I have had only 1 Protein Shake a day.......am I getting enough? Feel fine and not hungry:huh2:

I think you are doing just fine. My surgeon also said 60 grams for me too. Keep it up!!

The amount of protien required is different for everyone as we are all different sizes and shapes. The amount you are getting seems fine. Remember, if you start feeling hungry between your main meals, try upping your Protein intake to help.

Best of luck!!!

My nutritionists said at least 50 grams for women and 68 for men.

60 grams is my minimum and also supplement with Isopure ready to drink. I notice a big difference if I don't have enough Protein in my hunger and energy as well as on the scale.< /p>

My nutritionists also say at least 60g per day. I typically get 80-100g just because that is my preference. I have heard that you cannot absorb more than 25g at once, but I don't know whether or not to believe that. I tend to think your body would absorb more if it needs more. In any case, rather than going for 60g per day, I tend to think in terms of 20g+ per meal. So, either way, I am getting what I need and then some.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
