Low Carb/High Protein? and WW?

Recommended Posts

So at my initial consult my Dr. told me to start eating low carb and high Protein, and I went home and realized the food I have has quite a bit of carbs in it. Any ideas on things to eat? Except for fish I do not eat it. Thanks.

Also my Dr. told me to eat 3 meals only a day. I have been doing WW and do eat Snacks. I can lose weight the way I have been eating, I just get bored and go back to old habits. Has anyone not done as their Dr. recommended and still been ok?

I am assuming you are on the pre-op diet. The Dr wants you to eat low carb to reduce the fat in your liver before surgery, not just to lose weight. Reducing liver fat helps him place the band and makes the surgery safer. Please follow his directions even if he didn't spell out why.

Keep in mind I am pre-band. My doctor's office wants me to eat 3 meals a day and avoid Snacks because they are afraid of mindless snacking. When I told them that I have a single serving greek yogurt late afternoon before working out they were find with that. If you eat lunch at 12 or 1 and go to the gym after work not eating dinner until 7-8 you will need (or at least I do) to have a snack in between. One of my own personal issues has been night time snacking; especially children's Cereal like count chocula. I would eat it by the hand ful until it made me sick. That's the kind of behavior they want to stop.

Nope, not on the pre op diet yet. For the pre op my dr. only requires a week of liquids.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
