This story is too long to really write, but I need a doctor here in the US. I got banded in Mexico and all is great, however, I found a doctor here who would do the fills and I can tell he's not too interested in my welfare. I understand many doctors in the states have an attitude towards what I've done, or they have legal concerns, but it's a little scary to know there's no one here to help me should I need it. My US doctor gave me a fill that was too tight and I had to go back to Mexico to get it out due to the holidays and his lack of effort to help. In Mexico, the fill using fluorscopy, but this man did not. I don't blame him for his methods, for I know the are common. I do blame him for not being there to solve the problem. I just want a normal doctor to do my fills and who could perform any other surgery on me should I need it for whatever reason. (band slippage, whatever) It's scary not have anyone around.

I just realized in my frustration that I forgot to say where I lived. I'm in McKinney, Texas. I've heard of a Dr. Massey who might be in Mesquite and has a brother who does surgery in Mexico. Anyone aware of him?

Dr. Sanchez's nephew does fills in Dallas and I know he takes MX patients since his uncle is one of the MX surgeons who did my band. I don't remember his name but I can find out for you if you'd like. I've heard he's wonderful - who did your surgery?

I would love to have his name! I just need a doctor who understands it's not that weird in Mexico. Thank you.

ok I must email my friend who goes to him to find out his name - let me get back with you so check back here tomorrow - hopefully she will email me back by then. i want to say that that name you dropped Massey - is the right one - except its not his brother doing the surgeies its his uncle who is Dr. Sanchez who is the one who did my band - too bad you didn't have your band done by Dr. Sanchez because Sanchez's nephew Massey I believe doesn't charge any of his uncle's patients for fills. My friend who lives in Dallas and goes to him gets them for free since Sanchez did the surgery. Let me double check - but that name is familiar and I believe we are talking about one and the same. Who did your surgery and where?

Hey--His name is Dr Frederick Maese. He is at Preston Cardiology and Wellness center in Dallas. His number is 214-234-0330. I have been 4 times---3 times for a fill and once to get some OUT!! He is very good and knowledgable. Always kind of in a hurry but his PA is also very good. He is $150 for cash pay patients but the lady at the desk insisted that I just pay my insurances $25 copay and we could turn it in and see if they paid. My insurance did NOT pay for my surgery and I doubted they would pay for this. But anyway I received a letter from the billing department a month or so ago for Dr. Maese and it was a HUGE amount (keep in mind I have paid $25 each time I went in only) it was like $1400!! I panicked and called them. When I FINALLY found a person I could understand (speaking english that is!! HA) he told me to just send them $200 and he would call my account clear!! I was shocked and pleased. I sent the $200 quickly and thought that was good enough for 3 actual fills!! Long story sorry I hope it helps you!!

I also had surgery done in Mexico. After interviewing quite a few doctors I just had a fill with Dr. Stephanie Eijsink at Scott & White in College Station. She's great, has a band herself so knows what we're experiencing, charges only $200 with no special counseling or tests necessary ahead of time (not for me anyway), and she's not judgemental about those of us who - out of necessity - had to have our surgery done in Mexico. I highly recommend her.

Before going, we spoke on the phone & emailed quite a bit. When I arrived for my fill she took a lot of time to talk with me, explaining what was going on, finding out about my surgery & experiences since, and just chatting in general about life & such. I never felt uncomfortable or rushed and I loved the fact that my appt was on a Sunday so I didn't need to miss work. College station is a long way from my home in Louisiana, but the trip was worth it.

You can contact Dr. Stephanie at seijsink@swmail.sw.org. I also have her address & phone # - not handy, but if you need it just PM me and I'll find it for you.

Check with Dr. Jayaseelan. He has a few locations aka fill centers and they are great. Look him up on google for the number.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
