Now for the insurance....

Recommended Posts

So I had my last appt with my surgeon today. It only took 15 minutes... He is like so do you want surgery? YESSSSS... why the h*ll do you think Ive done all this c*ap... LOL... So the papers should be heading into the insurance shortly. I think I have a little bit of an advantage because my company has its own insurance which is located in the same state. So my papers do not have far to travel but of course with the holiday I expect it to take longer then usual. I am so excited and I can hardly wait. I am trying to stay positive that it will be approved. Im so sick of doctors now, between the pancreatitis and this Ive had atleast 5-6 appts every month for the past 6 months.

To add ontop of that I have seen a huge increase in patients that I see that have had the gastric bypass and are just horrible. They state that if they could do it over again then they would have never done it...I try to remind myself they had surgery how many years ago, things have changed and they had the bypass not the lap band... Im trying to stay positive but having this one patient atleast every week with negative comments about it is a real bummer. Not only that but my co-workers seem the have a thing against it as well. Although none of them have had it done...And none of them know I am having it done... hmmmmm...

Congratulations on reaching that final hurdle! I hope your insurance comes through quickly and you can get a surgery date. Remember that you are doing this for you - not your co-workers or anyone else! I can not wait to hear about your approval and follow your journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
