What happens when you reach your goal weight and don't want to lose more?

You work on maintaining. Once you get to your goal you just can't stop. It's important to continue to eat right, exercise, etc.

Do you still go for fills, etc.?

3 years out I just got another fill. After being at goal for 2 years I started to gain. Who knows why, but I had lost restriction. Went on liquids for 5 days to give my pouch a rest and no go. Doc gave me .5 and restriction is back-It is a wonderful feeling. I went through this whole guilt thing, feeling I could lose the regained pounds without restriction, but realized I can;t-that's why i have a band. In this past week I have lost 4 pounds, so I am off and running!

If you are at goal and maintaining, you would not need anymore fills.

If you are still losing and don't want to lose anymore, you could add some margaritas. ;-> (or any other food or drink you like to boost your calories)

I think most people find it harder and harder to lose once they approach goal (just like on any diet). The weight comes off slower once you have less to lose. So, I don't think it is a common problem to lose more than you want. Also, some people are more than happy to adjust their 'goal' weight down if they are still losing. And, I haven't seen anyone on here have the problem of going below the healthy weight range. I think most of us (regardless of the band) have metabolisms and bodies that resist going too low.

This is one of my favorite things about the band... knowing it is ALWAYS adjustable. It may be frustrating in the beginning as you are waiting to get to restriction, but what a great benefit to know that it is always adjustable for the rest of your life.

My loss just got slower and slower and slower and eventually stopped, a couple of kgs below my goal of 70, I had a bit of a bounce around there for six months, from 67 to 68 to 70 back to 68, up to 69 etc etc and now my weight is stable at 69kg give or take.

I've been here for over 2 years and have had one fill - teeny tiny 0.1cc fill - because I felt myself getting hungrier. That was 18 months ago and I havent felt the need to be back to see my surgeon since then.

You couldn't be more right, adagray! I'm 13 lbs away from goal and I feel like I've been saying that for ages! The sad thing is, it's really my first goal (I'd like to lose another 10 after that), but it's gotten soooo slow. I can't be too upset though. I haven't been this weight in over a decade :)! This is the first time in my life I actually am comfortable in my own skin and if I don't ever lose another pound all of this would still be worth it!

I think that's a healthy attitude - its certainly how I approached it. It took me a year to lose the last 10lb, which I wasnt really focussing on anyway. You have a choice, you can obsess over it or allow it to fall off in its own sweet time (assuming you're dong the right things of course). Several years later, it doesnt matter to me at all how long that weight took to go.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
