Does anyone here have edema that requires compression stockings? My left leg especially is swollen all the time. I hope that once I lose weight, I'll not have the edema anymore. It's gross and keeps me from wearing skirts, shorts, anything that shows my legs.

Does anyone here know if my hope is correct, that I'll not have the edema once I lose the weight? The swollen leg came with the weight, so I'm hoping it'll deflate with the rest of me.

Are you sure you haven't injured that leg? I have bad edema that's only in my left leg but mine is due to a bad knee injury.

Philly, it is quite possible that you won't have to wear them once you reach a certain weight. I wear them however I don't have edema. I wear them so I don't get it! They are also really good for circulation if you stand on your feet all day (which I do). Me? I am hoping my snoring goes away! Best of luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
