Sorry Darlene haven't had the surgery yet but am in Dutchess County. Although, you may be able to help me with finding support groups in the area and Pychiatrist that don't charge you an arm and a leg for the evaluation...I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern has a support group in Rockland County I realize that is a ways from you, you could also look it up on their website. They are also affiliated with Bon Secours in Port Jervis. I had my lapband done at Good Sam.I live in Rockland. My doctor also works out of Goshen Bariatrics.

Good Luck!!

Just had the band on October 6th. I go to Middletown NY at Dr. Kwon's office. It is about a half an hour from Newburgh. Amazing office with support groups on Mondays at 6, Tuesdays in the morning, Wednesday exercise group 6 and a Thursday group at 6.

I teach in Rhinebeck and live in Catskill. This organization is awesome, plus they have a psychatrist (mispelled).

Which surgeon is doing your surgery? I'm having mind done by Dr. Wayne Weiss who is partners with Dr. Kwon. They have an office in Middletown, NY & also an office in Fishkill, NY. They have a Physiciatrist that is credentialed with most major insurance companies so that all you'd pay is a co-pay. They also offer support groups in Middletown 3times per week & once a week in Fishkill. In their Middletown office they also have an exercise group that meets once a week. The support groups are free. Give them a call - Tri-State Bariatrics

I wasa just banded yesterday in Bon Secours by Dr. Weiss of Tri State Bariatrics and anyone looking for ANYTHING to do with the bad needs to do them selves a favor and either attend teir support groups or use them for your surgery needs. I cannot express how happy I am with everyone on their staff. I am in Dutchess County and use their fishkill office for routine visits and middletown for my pre surgery appt. Their support groups are great and offer you all the hlep you could need. Sorry for the poor spelling and grammar i took my pain med a lil while ago :) Be happy to chat with anyone thats wants/needs a bandster friend :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
