2 weeks of nausea

Recommended Posts

I recently had my band emptied completely because i thought i had caught a stomach bug. I have had the band since Nov 2007. I feel nauseated alot, dizzy, tired, achy, disoriented, and get anxious from feeling this way. I dry heave most of the mornings. I think I may be having a reaction to the band and materials. Help!

I just had my Fluid removed for the same reason.

Do you feel better since having the fulid out?

I feel 100% better. I had nausea, vomiting, and heartburn....all GONE.

Now the question is, where do I go from here?

Just wondering if something such as H Pylori might be the cause. I was looking it up after reading something about erosion. This is one of the things I found.

Gastritis and Dyspepsia

The symptoms are discomfort, bloating, nausea and perhaps vomiting. The person may also have symptoms that suggest ulcers - burning or pain in the upper abdomen, usually occurring about an hour or so after meals or even during the night. The symptoms are often relieved temporarily by antacids, milk, or medications that reduce stomach acidity. Yet, the physician does not find an ulcer when the patient is tested by x-ray or endoscopy. When H. pylori is found in the stomach, it is tempting to believe that it is the cause of the symptoms, although this connection is not yet clear cut. The physician will usually prescribe antibiotic therapy to see if clearing the infection relieves symptoms.

It might be worth getting tested to see if this bacteria is present.

I have been having some similar symptons. I am over 2 1/2 years out from banding. I was banded in Nov 2007 in California. I was wondering what that bacteria is from and where or how would you get it?

I'm not an expert I just know it is commonly implicated as the cause of a lot of stomach ulcers. If you do an internet search you should be able to find more info. it seems like it is something that is worth having checked out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
