am i getting enough calories?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on June 24 and I thought I have been doing okay with my diet. But today in a moment of boredom decided to add my calories of the past few days and yesterday I had 133 cals and so far today I've had 170 cals.

Someone suggested on another thread to be consuming 1000cals a day, im struggling to drink all this as it is!

So this is what I had today:

Jello 8 cals

pumpkin cup of Soup 1/2 cup watered down 54 cals

Protein Shake 1/2 cup Water base 72 cals

Cordial 1/2 glass. 36cals

Any suggestions would be great

Absolutely not!

But don't concentrate on the calories as much as Protein. You have to get at least 50 grams of Protein a day in order to heal your body and burn fat.

The calories will come with the protein.

I can't help there. I love Protein shakes.

Hopefully someone else can help. There are lots of people here that hate Protein Shakes.< /p>

Any suggestions for things to drink for Protein besides Protein shakes?

I personally love Protein Shakes, but I found another type of protein supplement which is almost like juice, called nectar. I found a sample pack at Fitness Connection. I like the Lemon Tea and Crystal Sky flavors, but nectar has multiple flavors to choose from.

Oh yea and nectar also has an unflavored version which is good to mix in Soups and other things. It dissolves quite nicely with no chunks in room temp, or cold Water, but if you put it straight hot liquids it will clump and taste like cheese. If I had it to hot liquids, I will typically dissolve it in room temp or warmish liquids first.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
