Hey everyone,

It's been a while since I've been on here, but, I have wonderful news! I got my band in August of 08 and after 2 years, I have finally made it to my goal weight of 150lbs. I am so proud of myself. It hasn't been the easiest trip nor the funest but well worth it.

I started out at 267 and am now at 150 and it feels so wonderful. I do have one question though. Now that I am at my goal weight, what happens with my band? I have an appointment with my surgeon in August and can't wait to share the wonderful news with him. Will I have one last fill or what? How does that work? Will he fix it to where I don't lose more weight or what?

I know that I have to talk to him about seeing a cosmetic surgeon since I have excess skin that needs to be taken care of. And to be honest, I am but I am not looking forward to that part of this journey. I am because I will have a beautiful body to show off to my wonderful husband who has stuck with me through this whole journey, but I'm not looking forward to it because I hate having surgery and I know this is going to be a HUGE one. I have to have my tummy, thighs, and arms done and I'd like to have my boobs lifted back to where they where when I was a teenager, but I just may be able to let that one slide for a while longer. Right now, I just want to get rid of my thunder thighs, overlapping belly, and my high bye arms (LOL). Anyone have any advice of having this done? Anyone at all with any kind of advice at all? I'm up to hearing it all.

Congrats!!

I am not near my goal weight yet but the answer is obvious to me. "If ain't broken, don't fix it!"

If you at comfortable restriction. Leave it there. Then give him a call if you think you need a fill.

I never found I had to do anything with my band when I hit goal - my weight loss just got slower and slower till eventually I realised it had stopped, and thankfully that was at 150lb for me which was slightly below my goal. Since being at goal I have had one top up fill about a year after reaching it, as I felt myself being able to eat more and being hungrier - my restriction had lessened over that time but I saw no need to fix it as I wasnt gaining. I was up to about 1800 calories a day which for me is great for maintenance. When I started going over that I had a 0.1cc fill. That was 18 months ago and I have not felt my restriction lessen at all since then.

I have never let up on my exercise schedule, I still do a lot of intense exercise.

Havent had any PS dont plan on it, so cant advise there.

A huge congratulations to you for reaching your goal!

Hi Slim,

Wow, you did it . I'm just starting out :bored:. Just 9 days since surgery. It's very encouraging to hear a success story. You have worked hard :welldone2:to get to this day!! Check in on all us newbies. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions

My thought would be dont fix what is not broke! I think what happens is your stomache shrinks in time, so you will have less restriction. like Jachut, eventually you may need to have a small fill. Congrats on making it!:bored:

I too am interested in hearing from anyone who had plastic surgery. I find the thought both exciting and terrifying. Surgery is a serious thing, and it is a huge one. I want to have boobs, stomach and arms done. I am about 20 pounds from goal, so it is starting to creep into my head.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
