I am newly banded (june 7) am on most regular food (no nuts, Protein Bars, granola, hard meats)

Anyway I super sauteed broccolli, cauliflower, and zucchini til caramelized and mushy.. I can eat a lot of it...weird because I really tend to have GREAT restriction allready.

is it because its so soft? I eat other mushies and am full after 4 oz....

Probably. but its vegies and unless you add tons of fat or salt the more of them you eat the better. So I wouldnt worry about why or how you can eat a lot of that, I'd just be happy that you can.

I personally cant eat fruit, I can barely choke it down and it really worries me. I eat a lot of vegies to compensate.

I haven't eaten fruit for many years. You can get what ever your body needs from vegetables.

I am still surprised sometimes, at the foods I have trouble with since I have been banded. My daughter who is also banded and I have trouble with completely different foods. I can only eat a black olive it it is smothered in ranch dressing. Other than that, I get them stuck. It makes no difference how well they are chewed. My daughter eats them fine. I can eat toast sometimes but not others. I can sometimes eat a lot of salad, and other times, I can barely eat it at all. There are times I can not have more than two or three swallows of my Protein Shake in the morning, and other times, it goes down fine. You may find the same thing. It is a learning thing for the whole experience. My band has changed my life though, and I am so glad I did it.... Hugs!!!

My diet right now consists of Protein and then more protein...lol...other than the occasional banana I don't do fruit anymore. I eat some veggies like salad and steamed veggies at night. But until I'm at goal it's lean protein and lots of liquids for me...Best wishes!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
