I was banded 6/22 at 5pm, sent home 6/23 at 10am and man oh man the gas pains are killing me. I've been walking and walking but nothing helps. Any suggestions?

I was banded the 21st! I'm in the same boat. Day 3 for me is better, but night 2 was horrible! Gas seems to be passing more today and it's easier to walk around. Everything I've read says day 2 is the worst. I did take some Beano- meltaways that melt it your mouth, they seem to work temporarily. The easiest fix for me though is walking as much as I can tolerate and finding things to do to take my mind off it.

I used the Gas-X dissolvables and they do help temporarily but you just have to keep moving and make the gas move. I still continued with gas pains up until about the 4th or 5th day but it will ease up soon Hang in there.

so sorry to hear about your pains. i went through the exact same. had so much pain from the gas that i wanted to cry sometimes. Most people said their pains lasted a few days, for me, it was more like 5-6 days. it gets better. the gas-x didn't work for me.. only walking. good luck and know that it's temporary.

Hi there I'm right there with ya. I was banded 6/21 and I was pretty miserable. I used the liquid pain meds to make myself get some rest (so i could deal with the pain and not be loopy from sleep deprivation) but my nutritionist did mention that warm liquids also help ease the pain. So Decaf tea and the ubiquitous chicken broth have been a great help.

However its day 3 for me post op and I'm pretty sure I'll scream if I even think about drinking any more broth *eww*

But other than warm liquids, yeah, walking and GasX chewables. Hang in there its much better day 3.

Do continue the walking--and don't be afraid to take the pain meds prescribed. There's no need to tough it out!

It passes (no pun intended) quickly. I think a lot of us sort of forget how we felt immediately postop--but it is harder than I think we lead, in our rosy post-banding glow, people to believe.

You're not alone! And you, too, will soon forget this pain, and be moving on happily

Congrats, we share the same anniversary lapband day. I had my surgery at 9:00am on the June 22. And I was released lastnight. I'm sore and I feel like I have a huge tire wrapped around my stomach (GAS, GAS, GAS)!!!However, the more I walk the more its beginning to release. But stay near the bathroom because what sometimes feel like gas be a bit of gas/air diarrhea.:)

Hi! I would suggest walk as much as possible. You can also try using a heating pad on your shoulder blades - it helped me. I did not use any pain meds and felt much better post op day 4. Good luck!

I found that right after surgery... and this may hurt a bit with the incisions.. I would lay on my bed.. on one side curled up a bit for 5 minutes.. then roll to the other side for 5 minutes.. and keep the "motion" going... that seemed to move things.. Gas x strips... and hot beverages... of course.. walking .. walking... Good luck..

Just keep walking if youre ok. Your abdomen muscles needs to recover and repair itself. Walking and Protein intake is very important in this period. One day you will just burp or fart and you WILL enjoy it....it will come.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
