Hi Folks: I'm Nicole. A french teacher from NJ. 2 days post op at this point. Sorta uncomfortable but yeah that's to be expected. Just wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself. I'm all for learning from those who have more experience with this, truthfully I'm a little shocked I was brave enough to do this. But I'm glad I have and though subsisting on chicken broth, ice pops and crystal light is not thrilling i'm actually feeling pretty great.

anyone have feedback on how long really it will take before i can stand and walk like a human being again haha!! I'm such an active lady this is bizarre!

Thanks for your kind words! I give u credit being a naval spouse i almost married a midshipman once...still have incredible respect for what he did.

Surgery was no big thing, the IV pinched worse than anything else.

I was doing laundry on the third day, that was a few weeks ago. Hang in there! I was told to get up and walk as much as possible. It worked!

Welcome I'm Jennifer and I am now 4 weeks post-op and finally eating solid food (for the last 2 days) and I can't believe I made it. I was up and moving and feeling back to myself after about a week. I walked as much as I could which really helped and the discomfort was gone for me after about a week. So hang in there not much longer now.

Congratulations on your surgery. I remember it taking about a week to feel normal enough. I moved around enough the first few days, but I really wasn't doing great until about day 8. I think the lack of food and reduced calorie count while on liquids had a lot to do with it. As soon as I started mushies I felt much better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
