Confession: I had a STRONG desire to chew during my pre op and post op liquids only stage but never did go there. I still have "moments" where I think about trying something and then just spitting it out. Then the brain kicks in and tells me that is ridiculous. I hope I keep listening!

i've done it too. when you are on those liquids it just feels so good to CHEW something. don't feel embarrassed about it. just be careful that it doesn't become habitual or then it will be a disorder.

the day when you can eat solids will come soon enough!

I too have done it, more than I care to admit. HOWEVER, I will say that sometimes it is because of the "overeating" sometimes it is because of the consistency, and sometimes...it is just because I want the taste. OCD? Maybe. Will it stop? For me, probably not, but I get all my other calories and such in daily. As for the cheetos, watch them. I found out in the way beginning, that they were one of the first foods I could get down. Sliders, fat pills...whatever, I ate them. I only hurt myself. I do not buy them anymore for my boys because of it. Good luck with everything! AND remember, it is a VERY big adjustment, and it takes time to reprogram yourself of 20+ years of eating badly or wrong! One day at a time. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
