bookitty 0 Posted June 23, 2010 Hi all, I had my band on Monday the 21st around 6 pm. My main problem is that I have zero energy! All I can do is sleep. I am up for about an hour before I fall back to sleep for another 2. How long will this last? Anything that I can do to get some more energy? Thanks.
adagray 1 Posted June 23, 2010 Don't worry, it won't last long. Your body is recovering and you are probably taking some strong pain meds right now too. Be patient and give your body at least a full week of rest before you start putting pressure on yourself to get back to 'normal'. Even though this surgery is laproscopic, it is still considered major surgery. If you set other people's expectations incorrectly that you would be back to normal sooner, then now is the time to let them know you were mistaken and you need to take at least a week off of work and/or any chores you normally do. CarolD771 1 Posted June 23, 2010 This is normal. It Is Major surgery!! It was 4 days before I could stay up for any length of time. Then each day is a little longer. If you need more time off work tell your Dr. Each person is different?? I'm day 7 and feeling much better!! Good Luck!!
sandradee0124 0 Posted June 23, 2010 As previous posts have said, it is a major surgery. Being tired is a signal from your body it needs to rest. Walking even a short distance, sipping Water and relaxing will help. I found that even walking 100 steps outside 3 days out helped me feel better. The next day was farther, and it has gone on from there. Soon you will have more energy than you have in a long time! Enjoy the rest and Celebrate the fact that you have done a great thing for yourself! Congratulations and best wishes :-)
kll724 3,055 Posted June 23, 2010 Your surgery was just 2 days ago, give yourself a break. Congrats on this step to your future goal. Take it easy, follow doctors orders and relax. Good luck!!By the way, even my surgeon, who had his operation on a Friday, did not go back to work until Monday.
