I went to see my ob/gyn yesterday: was a little nervous about her response to my surgery: she had been concerned about my weight, so I skipped my visit last year because I knew she would be ultra concerned! Anyway, she was so over the top about it! She has been my dr since I was 18, she delivered 2 of my 3 kids, and she kept telling me how proud she was of me: Big news: my blood pressure was NORMAL: 110/70: we had been headed toward meds and now I am good!

I may not be perfect on this journey: I had a really bad day on Sunday: ate everything I could which is not that much, but still! I havent had bread since 3/05 and while I probably could: I am making the choice not to. I feel better: not so sluggish, not so thick: I am 38 pounds down and will hit my 40 by 40 goal.

Look, if I can do it: you can too! I am the biggest procrastinator, food justifier, emotional eater on the planet: every day gets better with this too though: soon, food will be fuel instead of my friend!

Sorry: I rambled, but I am so happy this morning!

Great attitude. And Congratulations. You should be very proud of yourself. Remember it's ok to slip up once and awhile. And it's ok to reward yourself once and awhile. It's not a diet. It's a lifestyle change. Diets are boring and don't work. There is nothing easy about this process. We all work very hard to get where we want to be after the lapband process. We deserve to feel good about ourselves. The main words EVERYTHING IN MODERATION.

The more weight you lose the better you feel about yourself, the more compliments you get. It's totally amazing. Thus far I have lost a total person on the outside. On the inside I have gained total person (Self confidence). Texassparkles is right anyone can do this if you believe in yourself and understand that the lapband is just a tool. You have to work at it. You can't expect the band to just be placed inside of you and you will automatically start losing the weight. Not going to happen. You also have to remember that old habits aren't going to go away over night. Some may haunt you for the rest of your lives but you do learn how to deal with them a little better as time goes on.

Life is a highway. You can either keep following the highway or you can get off. It's all up to you. Good luck to everyone. And Texas keep up the amazing work.

Yall are both so encouraging and that is great! I was banded June 7th and have lost 24 pounds since surgery and pre-diet. Every day gets better and better. I am praying the confidence and good changes in me continue! Good luck to you both.

Oh yeah, I am finding non-food rewards a nice change. I got my 1st pedicure about a week after surgery. I am going to reward myself every 25 pounds or so. Other rewards might be going on an overnight trip or day trip, shopping (of course), maybe a nice restaurant to eat. Any other suggestions? Of course the greatest reward is the scale and someone saying "how great you look," or they can tell you are losing weight.

Astrasmom I had my surgery on Oct 23, 2009, it was the most single best thing i've ever did for myself. I have lost 81 lbs. to date. Wow you've done great. I hope to lose another 20 lbs. by my 1 year mark and then it will be just maintenance from then on.

It's just amazing last night my kids wanted taco bell which I dont do fast food very often at all. but once in a while we have to do things for the kids. Well I order Tacos (170 calories). I could only eat ONE and I was full. After getting home I ponder that for a while. Before my surgery one would not have started me, much less have made me full.

My PCP has also been so happy about my success. I think doctors rarely get to see a patient actually succeed at changing their lifestyle, losing weight, and reversing disease. Most of the time, I think they just diagnose the problems and see them get worse over time. That's got to be hard. Since getting banded, I have gone off meds for high blood pressure and high cholesterol, no longer have sleep apnea (I don't even snore at all anymore), and went from having prediabetes to a fasting blood sugar level of 80 (well below the 100+ that puts you into the prediabetes range). My PCP is amazed w/the results!

Me too! I got banded on Oct.30, 2009. I am down 43 lbs since banding, but a total of 82 lbs since last April including my 6 month pre-diet. I, also, went to my PCP yesterday. She was so proud and all my numbers are in line with healthy! She showed me off to a colleague as an patient that she was proud of. Was a great feeling after leaving her office. But, you all seem to be doing a great job after your banding. My surgeon in not even suggesting another fill. He says 16 more lbs, and then maintenance for me.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
