First PB today

Recommended Posts

I was thinking I would luck out and never have a PB. Well that came to a screeching halt this morning. I stopped at a local convenience store this morning after work and bought a Breakfast sandwich. (English muffin, egg, sausage, cheese.) I work the over night shift and was on my way home. I waited till I got home to warm it up and eat it. Needless to say after two well chewed bites I started to have that pressure. Then the hiccups, sweating and that ugh feeling. Then I belched, some relief...okay I am over it, slow down Pam you will be okay,........then it all came back up. Not as nice when it went down. So our dog got the rest and I was done. No other food problems today, I think I waited too long to eat this morning.

I am with you Pam. First thing this morning, I made pancakes and bacon for my family. My very first bite, made it feel like a knife was sticking in my chest....stayed there for about a half hour. horrible!!!

I only get that if it's too large of a bite. I get the slime if I didn't chew enough. I'd rather have the slime any day than that golf ball stuck in the chest feeling.

Hope you're feeling better today.

That's too bad Pam about the PB. I'm at the point where I pretty much can pin point the foods that will cause a problem, and I avoid them like the plague. There are some foods though that are hit or miss for me, I guess it just depends on the time of day, how quickly I eat, and how well I chew.

Hope you feel better.

I know how you feel, I had my first problem on wednesday when i was so hungry and i went through mcdonalds drive thru and i got a small hamburger and a small fry and i took one bite of each and i got so sick. 6 weeks after the lap band and that is the first problem i have had, i had my first fill 2 weeks ago.

i threw up in the bag where the rest of the food was. i should never eat drive thru when i am so hungry. i don't think i chewed it at all.

So sorry about the PB. I haven't had one yet but have had the 'stuck' pain and that hurts. But I have figured out that I can still have drive thru breakfast but I have to take it apart to eat it. I eat the sausage and egg and then I have a couple little bites of the muffin or...dare I say....McGriddle!!! I loved those before but I behave now and just have a couple of bites...the egg and sausage are more than enough! And I usually have some ketchup or salsa to wet it so it goes down a bit easier. Take it easy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
