how hungry are you supposed to get?

Recommended Posts

I just had my first fill. It has been pretty smooth sailing in terms of no pain/vomiting etc but it has not had a dramti effect on my hunger. I ate a relatively large (not excessive but plenty) dinner on sunday night and an hour later felt hungry. i had a cup of tea but did not eat again but is this normal? i see my doc in 2 weeks should i immediately get another fill?

It sounds to me like you should get a fill because you described your dinner as large.

What you didn't say was what your dinner was comprised of. Was there a lot of meat; starch; veggies; etc...?

It's not just how much we eat that matters. It is what we eat as well.

meats and other Proteins satisfy us longer and keep our hunger at bay.

dinner was chichen cacciatore-2 small skinless chicken thighs with lots of veg (no potato) and a piece of multigrain bread to mop up the sauce. I thought that 1 thigh would be more than enough

I'd say you're not at great restriction if you can eat 2 chicken thighs. But that's not necessarily a problem - are you losing weight? YOu only need to get tighter and reduce quantity in order to keep weight loss goign when it slows. If you're losing well, there's no need to fill yet, although its probably not going to hurt if you're not tight at all.

I've had one fill and it takes me forever to feel hungry again after I eat. I only eat about a cup of food but can eat more if I tried, yesterday I was able to eat two rolls of sushi (it was so good, it's been so long since I had sushi). I've been losing steadily as well.

Just tell your doctor you keep getting hungry too soon and see what he says about it.

I had a fill a week and a half ago and I'm only able to to get between 1/8-1/4 of a cup of food at a sitting. Until today I stuck with mushies and liquids. However, it only sustains me for 2 hours or so then I'm hungry again. I'm supposed to go in Wednesday for another fill, but I think I'm going to postpone that one.

This was my first big fill--1cc--which puts me up to 5.2cc in a 10cc band.

The gas pressure is killer right now. Uggh. But enjoying the weightloss!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
