emvelez 0 Posted June 22, 2010 I am very worried re the pre op diet because I get a lot of low blood sugars. I am worried about getting the diet done and doing it well! I was not expecting to have to do this diet either. My surgery is on 7/7/10. I have not gone to any of the support groups because this process has taken so long (over a year)it so totally slipped my mind! Yikes! CurvasPeligrosas 0 Posted June 22, 2010 Hello~ My surgery is on July 8th, and I am sooo worried about the pre op diet, and the 2 weeks post op. What does your list say you can have? I was told, Protein Shakes, Water, juice, Soup, and broth. How I will survive on just that I don't know. hehe!
shelley1057 0 Posted June 22, 2010 I worried also before the pre-op diet. I'm diabetic and have bouts of hypoglycemia. This diet has been a godsend. It's given me all kinds of new energy! Haven't felt this good in years! I have 7 more days of this then the BAND! Can't wait!:smile2:. If you aren't already diabetic, remember that hypoglycemia is a precursor to diabetes and you're taking positive action over your health now before it becomes worse. emvelez 0 Posted June 23, 2010 Hi Shelley, I do have diabetes. What do you do if you get low blood sugars? I had one tonight T 70. I had a hard candy. Then I did my evening no sugar instant breakfast along with some sugar free Jello. I feel ok now. However I was exhausted all day today. Is it ok to have black coffee? I am having the lap band on 7/7. Good Luck for you with your surgery! Eileen
shelley1057 0 Posted June 23, 2010 Surprisingly I haven't had low blood sugar since starting the Optifast! Have the most energy I've had in a long time. But glucose tabs are what I use for low blood sugar followed by low-fat dairy. Works for me. sugar free instant Breakfast would do it fine. And yes I do drink black coffee in the am. I only drink one cup a day anyway.
emvelez 0 Posted June 23, 2010 I am not doing Optifast, Carnation instant Breakfast and Protein drinks. One real meal a day. I just had a blood sugar of 46, very very scary. Never had one that low before. I ate a crap load of candy orange slices and some fruit. Just wanted to make it stop. I could not even walk or think straight. The dietician sent me a better meal plan which I just got via email. E
