Recommended Posts

I am on full liquids moving into mushies. 2 1/2 weeks post op now. I got so tired of the bland stuff I was eating and then I started ordering Soup to go from different places. Egg drop soup got old fast from the local Chinese place and then i tried Applebees and WOW...they have awesome soups! The Tomato Basil Soup is heavenly and so is the Broccoli Cheese(the broccoli is super soft) and there garlic mashed potatos are very yummy as well! This has saved me!

Just a suggestion.. google your favorite Soup and restaurant it comes from and then recipe... for example

sweet tomatoes clam chowder recipe....

GUARANTEE you that you will find the recipe, then you can make a big 'ole pot of it at home and save yourself boucoup bucks!

Money in your pocket=money for new clothes! LOL

Just a suggestion

Most restaurant Soups are very high in sodium.

Don't do it every day.

Cambell's has a line of heart healthy low sodium soups. I add No-Salt to them and they are just as good as really Soup.< /p>

Loved Panera during my mushies stage because of the Soups.< /div>

I love the Soup there!

I have never watched my sodium enough. I've always had very low BP, so never got "trained" to watch it. I guess I should start paying more attention.

I'm just really tight right now, the chicken was a little rough going down if I start to feel any pain I quickly stop and continue at next meal. I ate the potatoes to, they surprisingly went down better than the chicken :smile2:. I never thought about putting djorn on my chicken, it was some of the yummiest food I have eaten in a while, I was thinking about trying to replicate that reciepe myself. Good luck!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
