Question about the port

Recommended Posts

I am 1 week post op and the only real pain I get is where the port is. It seems to "stick" out sometimes and when it does, it hurts!!! It hurts to sit, bend, and breath. Other times I can't even feel it under my skin and it doesn't bother me. Normal? Or Not?

Hi-

I am 3 weeks post op and am still pretty uncomfortable around my port. It took me almost two weeks to be able to sleep on either side.

Now, 3 weeks out, I don't notice it all day long, but I do get pain if I do something that stretches those muscles (like emptying the dishwasher, putting away groceries, etc.)

The other funny thing is that my skin is very tender about 4 inches below my port incision. It hurts to even brush my finger gently against the skin.

I think it will get better over the next few months, but I expect to get "pulls" for quite a while.

Hope you feel better soon!

Its normal guys! Im a year out and it still randomly gets sore. But at a year out, mine really sticks out. I was told it just the scar tissue and remember they stitched the port in you so anytime you have stitches, the area is sore. Trust me, you still have major healing to me done. Dont rush it

I'm 2+ months post-op and have a port that still sticks (way) out along with pain and discomfort - especially when exercising and/or bending over. Mine has gotten a little better and easier to deal with over time, but it's still very much a constant irritant.

1+ months out, port sticks out the most while I am standing, I dont even notice untill I push on it, or bump it, I kind of look at it as part of the deal I signed up for. I will take a tender spot over the weight gain!
