godley_gal 0 Posted November 25, 2005 My doctors office allowed me to have Thanksgiving and start my liquid diet today, the day after. Can I only have broth and popsicles? Or can I eat some Tomato Soup or something? Also, WHY do you have to do a liquid diet BEFORE anyway? What's the purpose? I am scared about getting nasceus after the surgery! I have THE most sensitive stomach! ANY suggestions about how to prevent that? HELP!
NJChick 3 Posted November 25, 2005 When you go for surgery, tell them you get sick, they will give you something for it. They gave me 2 shots and I had no problems, I didn't dry heave once. I can't help you with the liquid diet b/4 surgery b/c I didn't have to be on any special diet before hand. I thought all liquid diets preop were Protein drinks? no? I'm not sure. Good Luck !!! StephanieRaye 0 Posted November 25, 2005 I think the pre-op liquid diet's purpose is to shrink the size of your liver. I've also heard that a liquid diet the few days before surgery could help with post-op gas pain. Your doctor's office didn't tell you what you could have? I would think you could have Protein Shakes.< /p>
