Hey,

I just had surgery on monday (June 14) and I'm really struggling with this all. I live in Southern CA. I'm looking for a buddy who can help me get through this online or someone who can recommend a support group for me in person. I'm in Ventura County. My surgeon has a support group but he's an hour and a half away and I just missed their monthly meeting.

Hi! I was just banded on July 14th as well. I've struggled with emotions and the fact that my relationship with food has been interrupted. I am here if you want to talk. Just know that you can do it! We can do it!

Hi there, my name is Kirsty and I am all the way in the UK! I went through the procedure on Saturday. It was the best thing I could have done. I have been reborn and set free :-) Be strong, keep with it, and the results will be there :-)

Hi,

I was banded on Wednesday 6/16 and am finally feeling better and starting to miss food. My husband loves to BBQ and he is all talk about cooking steaks for Fathers day. It is going to be really hard. I am already tired of the liquid. I want something of substance.

So hang in there, I think we all have to go through this before things get better. My doctor said the first six weeks are the hardest. I believe that.

I was also banded on WED 6/16. Tonight I tried scrambled eggs. My doc said at day 4 I could try to introduce food slowly to see if I could handle. So far so good. I am still taking pain meds every 4 hrs. I am doing ok. I still think this is the best thing ever and cant wait to see results. I have not poopd and it is making me feel uncomfortable. My incisions are tender and do hurt. i also am looking for support. it just seems every doc/clinic has a set of rules and all are different. I just want to do right thing and not screw something up!!!

It's so great to meet all of you! I don't know how to add friends on here but if any of you would like to please add me. I'm missing food too quite a bit. It's the hardest part. I can deal with the hunger it's the cravings that have been so intolerable. Being on these message boards have helped me a lot already though.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
