I did cardio for the first time in almost a week- was on vacation. I had to really make myself do it but felt great after. My goal is 5-6 days a week of cardio along with 3 days of weights with a trainer.

Did my 45 minutes of cardio today. Then I got my massage. WOW. Wish I could do that every day. Feeling pretty good about doing this. My goal is 5 days per week and over 150 minutes per week. So far so good.

35 minutes on the elliptical yesterday and another 25 on the treadmill. Was shooting for an hour on the elliptical but I broke my foot over the winter and the elliptical was making my foot go numb  For some reason it wasn't an issue on the treadmill....

Do you think we should start a new thread on Monday or stick with this one?

I want to get a Wii -- there are a lot of programs to do on there that would switch things up!

I worked up to what I'm doing, started walking two days post op and was in the gym a week later. Now, at week 6, I do 45 minutes a day, 6 days a week on the elliptical and 3 days a week 30 sets of upper body strength training. Released to do lower body and core next week.

Added Water aerobics once a week starting last week and adding Zumba once a week starting next week.

I guess that is averaging about 75-90 minutes a day? I love feeling healthier, which I attribute to the exercise. I enjoy going to the gym (couch potato turned gym rat?). I have to get up at 3:00 am during the week to get it done, but it is worth it.

I think its great you are posting your goals for motivation and accountability. Keep it up and good luck!

I'll look for a new thread if you decide to do that. Either way, I enjoy getting on here to share and be accountable.

Hi there, I was just banded 6/29/10 and I am wondering how soon you all started exercisin after surgery. I am anxious to get started, but don't want to jump the gun. If any what should or can I be doing right now just a little under 1 week out?

Congrats on your new companion!

You should consult your surgeon as to the what/when/how of exercise post op because they vary in approach. I was turned loose after about 4 weeks, but was encouraged to start walking right away.

Good luck!

I have walked 33 miles in the last 2 weeks and done 45 minutes of toning exercises in the pool after walking every night and guess what - I gained 3 lbs!

Geeze - hoping it is all just muscle and nothing else.

My legs and arms feel different, I can feel muscle in them now where it was all flab before but I really want to see the number on the scale go down.

Go in for another fill on Tuesday - hopefully that will help with the scale!

Jilly of course you can post here- anyone can! The more the merrier IMO!

My surgeon said to walk as much as I could post op- was allowed back to gym with no restrictions after 6 weeks (I had hernia repair so weights would of been bad for that)

Got 30 mins in today... so I am a little short on my goal- like 6 minutes I think... I will keep it the same for this the new week-

0/170

Windus I too am not losing even with the increased exercise- but its also that TOM--- I get a fill on Thursday so there should be three things going for me and I am anticipating a big loss soon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
