So today is day 5 post op..I went to the dr for my leg and they weighed me..last Friday I was 341..I am now 318...that is 23 lbs lost in a week?!?!

Does that seem normal...my bp is also very low 98/66..I am not feeling that great and Im actually starting to get hungry.

I have been doing 4oz of liquids per hour..nowhere near getting the Protein I am suppose to be getting but I just cant get it down.

Anyone go thru this or have any advice??

Thanks!!

HI- i dont know about the weight loss.. but i would take it lol.. as for the low bp- mine gets low when i get dehydrated.. last week i was sick sick and my bp was very close to yours.. ive been able to rehydrate and its back to normal.

My nutritionist told me 2 weeks post of when i said your going to get liquid or Protein which do you want..

I would say at this point,, push the fluids and dont worry about the protein.. try some really thin Protein Shakes that may help but stick with Water, low sugar Gatorade and get rehydrated i bet you will feel tons better

From one Lauren to another  yes the weight loss is normal. I was 351 when I went in for surgery and I lost 22 lbs in about a week. I feel that the heavier you are,the quicker you lose in the very BEGINNING. That being said that rate of loss will slow down immediately once that first chunk comes off. But as long as your are raising your activity, following your docs program, and eating right you should be able keep losing at a healthy rate. Remember, you just had surgery, so your body's in a bit of shock and needs to heal. You will get hungry, as the swelling goes down, but focus on following your post-op diet progression very closely. Focus on staying hydrated and definitely sip on your Protein Shakes as much as possible. Since the shakes are a liquid, they should be able to go down as easy as Water or gatorade, provided they are thinned out. Regarding the blood pressure issue, mine was low when I had surgery and my doc didn't seem overly worried about it. However, if you feel uneasy about it, call your doc and ask. You mentioned a leg issue as well, so if it's swelling or hot, I'd mention that too him too. You definitely want to make sure there aren't any blood clot issues. Two weeks post-op I had leg swelling and pain behind my calves. I told my doc and he had me come in for a doppler test to rule out any clotting. Luckily there weren't any clots, but I felt silly and a bit neurotic about being so nervous. He told me to never feel silly and to listen to my body. Early detection of any kind is the best detection. Wish you all the best.

Lauren

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
