elcee 3,341 Posted June 17, 2010 Bit of a strange question here but I am wondering what is the correct ettiquette for disposing of used sanitary protection when at someone elses house. When I was growing up it used to be easy as in those days you just used to flush. Now we are not supposed to flush items as they pollute our waterways. At home its easy you put the stuff in your own bin, at the shops its easy they have special units but what do you do at someone elses house? I don't feel comfortable putting something into their bathroom bin and its embarassing to have to ask them where they would like the items disposed of so what do you do?
Mrs. Plumpy 0 Posted June 17, 2010 If they have a garbage can in the bathroom, wrap your item up good in toilet paper and throw it in the trash can. If they don't have a trash can or you feel strange throwing it in there (maybe it's empty or something) then still wrap it up good in toilet paper and discreetly go to their main trash can and throw it down in there, make sure it falls down in there and doesn't lay on top of other trash. Tada! Strangely, I've never had this happen to me, I've been on Depo shot for almost ten years though so I don't have a monthly visitor anymore. :scared2:
oz girl 0 Posted June 22, 2010 I agree wrap it up and throw it in the bin
elcee 3,341 Posted June 22, 2010 In theory yes that sounds fine. So let me set the scene.Friend in her 50s had a hysterectomy in her 20s so not something she has had to worry about for a while. Bin in guest loo = open wastepaper basket that is used for spare toilet rolls. Other bin probably in kitchen . Now as this was the first time I had been there for dinner I wasn't really game to walk through to kitchen with wrapped pad in front of other guests. I just find it really awkward and it's not something I've had to deal with for a while due to previously taking pill continuously to avoid periods altogether! Fanny Adams 7 Posted June 25, 2010 I know how you feel, coz it can be awkward. If it was me and it was a tampon, I'd probably just flush it (with all the attendant guilt feelings). If it was a pad and not easily flushed, I guess I'd have to go the 'wrap and toss' route. With any luck, the open waste paper bin might have something in it, so I could shove it to the bottom and hope it wasn't visible...otherwise I'd be using a LOT of their toilet paper to wrap and then probably put another layer of paper over it in the bin, LOL! Carrie_C 9 Posted June 28, 2010 I would just wrap it up really good in a lot of toilet paper and then put some more paper on top of it. I think that would hide it very well.
