Pain at my incision site. . .

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Tuesday morning. Spent the night in the hospital and was discharged on Wed at noon. I'm getting around pretty well but one of my incision sites hurts more then the rest. The smaller ones towards my sides don't really hurt at all. The larger one that is right in the middle below my breast really hurts. If I touch it is seems to be hard and it seems to pull if I stand up straight. Is this normal? I am assuming this is where the band is. I think I can feel it and trace it all the way to my right side where the port is. Just wondering if this is normal???

I'm assuming thats where your port is. Mine hurt for a little more than a week. I had my surgery on May 27th and it only itches a little now.

I;m also thinking it's the port site. Mine still hurts and I'm 8 days out when I breathe too hard, adjust myself wrong it all hurts. I'm still on pain meds so it helps alot. I does get better. Just hang in there!!!!

Yuppers! That is where your port is! I am 6mo out and every once in a while it still pulls and will send a little shock to me. It will get better. it may always feel "hard" though...esp. when you lose more cause you will feel the port more easily. Just take it easy and don't over do it for now because the port is stitched in place and don't want to rip your stitches! Take care

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
