I hate to repeat what I have seen on so many other posts, but I am getting banded tomorrow and am freaking out. So, here I am sitting at work crying out to you when I should be working.. I am wondering if I could just cancel the surgery and go back to being "fat and happy" even though I am not. Are the risks worth it?:crying::scared2::scared2::scared2::scared2::scared2::scared2::scared2:

i was scared before i got mine done but i went ahead with it. i talk to my hubby and my dr and he told me it's completely normal to be scared. it'll be ok. just think you've went this far so why back out now? i promise it will be ok. it's just your nerves getting the best of you.

I was banded Monday afternoon and can't believe how great I feel. I live alone. My sister stayed the night with me Tuesday after I was discharged from the hospital, but I've been on my own the past couple days and nights. I'm sore, but that's it.

I have a good tolerance for pain and heal quickly in general. I stopped taking the pain meds in the hospital and switched to Tylenol. I haven't had any since yesterday morning.

That said, every single person is different. I was not really nervous or scared going into my surgery and other than high BP, have no other health issues that would have elevated the complication risk that is already there.

You have to do what is right for YOU. I can tell you all day long that "you'll be fine and so glad you did it" after all is said and done but the truth is this is a HUGE decision and you have to feel comfortable about it going in.

Nerves and fear are understandable, but if you are fearful to the point of considering canceling the procedure, perhaps now is not the right time for you.

Wishing you strength and success no matter what you decide.

i was supposed to be banded a year ago may. i was so worried i just could not go through with it. i gave myself another year and i had not lost any weight. i just was banded 6-7-10. at first i thought what did i just do to myself, but now i am feeling much better about it. just wanted to let you know you are not the only one who was so worried about going through with it.

Let me share what the band has done for me in less than two months....

Dropped 40 pounds.

Went from Size 24 to 18

Went from XXXL to XL

Lost two of my three chins

Will be able to fit onto any ride at six flags

more energy!

no foot pain

no knee pain

I cannot explain what it feels like every time I step on the scale...it's like a dream come true. Every single time..even when I haven't lost! I had given up hope of ever living like this again.

No more "obese waddling"...

I have a waist

Smaller butt

Cute ankles

But....BUT...it is a very personal decision and you need to be mentally ane emotionally prepared. I just wish I had done it much sooner but took 3 years to decide.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
