Where are the happy bandsters?

Recommended Posts

(the other minute is when I step on the scale and either jump for joy or swear...my husband finds the whole morning ritual hilarious now :) )

I just had to laugh at this. I'm not a bandster yet, but I do have a funny story about the scale. Years ago I used to have a digital scale that was not 100% accurate. I would weigh myself 3-4 times in the morning and then take an average of the numbers.

Well one morning I didn't have my glasses on and I couldn't see the scale. So I would step on the scale, wait until it beeped, get off, bend over to see the result, step back on, and repeat.

My husband watched this strange ritual and asked me, "Why are you bowing to the scale?"

:clap2: Although an innocent question, what a great summation of what we do!

I am a really happy bandster too!! I couldnt have lost this weight without my band, but I also think that the original post, whether implied or not may have been like a slap in the face to the bandsters/exbandsters that post here with troubles. A support board is for good and bad...it is never good all the time with anything. I waited a long time to post this, and hope I havent offended anyone, I just think the original posting could have been worded better so as not to make members with problems feel unwelcome or like we are sick of hearing about problems...because good or bad I know I am here for the long haul whether its good or bad.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
