Found a way to make my yogurt taste better!!

Recommended Posts

So I have been eating greek yogurt, but I have been buying the plain one to avoid all the sugar. Well I bought some DaVinci sugar free Syrup, and I added it to my yogurt tonight and it was really good! I used the irish cream one, but I also bought watermelon and pumpkin pie.

Tomorrow I am going to try and make a smoothie with the watermelon, since I am sooooo jealous that Dunkin Donuts just came out with a watermelon coolatta.

I eat lunch at around 1; go swimming in the early evening, and eat dinner around 7. Sometimes I have fruited Greek Yogurt by itself. Occationaly I will add vanilla flavored low fat/carb Protein Powder (and some splenda). Makes for a good prework out snack.< /p>

Why don't u just buy the sf (splenda) fat free fruit flavored yogurt? I get the Dannon light n fit or the store brands. 70 cal.

The greek yogurt has way more Protein and way less sugars in it than the commercial yogurts. It's a better bang for your buck despite (slightly) higher calories. Don't get me wrong, I like them all, but I am more concerned with taking in good quality Protein.< /p>

I too add some splenda to plain FF greek yogurt along with some sliced berries or low fat granola. The plain needs a little sweetness added because it can be a little too tart.

It's worth a little tweaking on my end for 15-18 or so grams of protein and about 90cal/ cup!

Abracadabra is right, I eat the greek yogurt for the extra Protein, as recommended by my dietitian. And the flavored ones have twice as many carbs, so to find a way to flavor the plain one without adding any carbs is great.

That's good to know about the Protein. I had never checked the Greek yogurt label. I cannot gag down plain yogurt, but adding splenda and fruit can make it a lot better.

I've been making my own greek yogurt..its easy and less expensive!! I just add fresh fruit..no sugar, no additives, nothing but fresh milk and fruity goodness. You can find the method on our blog www.thereddragoncafe.blogspot.com

I'm also finding that it is more filling eating whole or cut up fruit rather than the sugary processed fruit they put in yogurt.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
