I too and 2 weeks out from surgery and have lost a mere 5 pounds since surgery. From what i've read it's really common to not lose weight right now. I think that it isn't until you get fills and begin eating again that your body wakes up and starts dropping weight. I think my problem right now is that since i'm on full liquids (with a few cheats of mushy here and there) my body thinks i'm dying so it's holding on to everything! I feel the same fear as you that i won't lose and how embarassing and what a waste to go through this experience and not come out successful. Keep going though, what choice do we have... we'll be successful :)

That could be it... I am eating so little... but I am worried if I have what it takes to go the distance... I need to get some weight off and keep it gone!! I hope I have the will and ability to do this for ever ... ugh...

You have what it takes.... You just don't know it yet. My problem is looking for the goal and not the act of getting there... Life is a Journey, not a destination!! iT doesn't just happen it takes time, hour by hour, day by day.... I too have to keep reminding myself of this. I have very little patience for things when they aren't working, but this will be different, I has to be. I unfortunately didn't get the band model with the trap door for easy removal! We can do this, we have to, we have no choice and it will work ... We just have to figure it out! Hang in there, you aren't alone!

You don't have any help yet, the band without fill is like a car without gas. Relax, practice your new eating skills (if you are on food yet), small bites, eat slowly, chew, chew, chew and start walking if your not already.

Everyone went through this, as a matter of fact I gained weight before my first fill. Then I started getting help from the band and lost 2 pounds a week until I had the last 15 and now only a pound every 10 days or so.

It will be fine, practice your band skills and it will be fine.

Yes.. I am like you too.. I guess it is that.. "well I got this thing.. lets get this done" kind of idea in my head... Glad I am not the only one

Also good to hear this is the way it is and all good...My fill is 7/12.. so Good advise.. keep doing the right thing.. and it will come.

I am going home soon and having a turkey patty and some carrots.. and I will chant.. "day at a time"... I have to talk myself positive... thanks for the support...

fwiw, I saw my surgeon for a follow-up just 1.5 weeks out from surgery and he literally said to me "I'm not even keeping track of your weight loss right now" - so it seems some doctors aren't overly concerned with weight loss while you're still healing and have not had your first fill yet

I feared this same thing presurgery and sometimes wonder if I will stop one day and gain back more than I weighed post surgery. I can say this I am like so determined not to do just that. I had to wait for 5yrs to save money for my surgery because insurance wouldn't even think about it. Every time in my past I have lost and gained back what I lost and more. This time will be different. I am sure I will stumble at times but will not let myself get out of control of the situation. This tool is wonderful!

I agree with xrl...that is what my doctor said...heal first. Also, I have noticed that I drop more weight when i eat then when I don't! Much success!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
