When did you see the difference?

Recommended Posts

I started April 12 at 409 lbs. with my highest at 412 lbs. Today I am 379 lbs. I feel wonderful and have not been at this weight since 2005. I am excited to keep seeing the scale drop.

When I was that lower weight I was wearing 3X size shirts and 48 inch waist pants. Today my sizes have not changed at all despite the loss. I am still in 4X to 5X shirts and 54 inch waist pants.

I have seen slight changes in my chin and fat around my neck. My shoe size has changed and I am not uncomfortable in a non-wide shoe.

When did other men start to see the more apparent physical changes?

You seem to be doing the right things! We basically start out as uneven ice cube - that melts unevenly. Unfortunately, we can't pick and choose where we lose fat. Keep up the hard work and you'll be needing to shop for new clothes very soon - and very often. :)

Also, be prepared for this.....they actually have stores that don't even have xxx sizes!!! And you will be shopping in them!!!

You are awesome. Thank you for the reassurance. I said that I can feel it but now I want to see it. I just thought that 30+ lbs would have been alot more visible.

Can't wait to see what the next 30 may actually look like.

My doctor says we are headed to 220 and I never remember seeing that on a scale. I can not imagine what that looks like but I am sure it is far better than what I have now.

My most cherished NSVs will be when I can fit in a coach airplane seat and also ride roller coasters again. My company bought out a theme park for us next week and I can't ride any of the coasters... YET!

I'm down about 130 pounds and still don't notice the difference in the mirror.

I gave in and bought new clothes a month ago. I was wearing 56" waist pants with a 44" waste and 3x shirts when xl is loose.

Needless to say, I was told not even 20 minutes ago that the pants I'm wearing are too big for me.

I was at a party with people I haven't seen in more than a year last weekend and got a few double-takes and a couple of people that didn't recognize me at all.

I am down a good amount now but I still do't "see it" when I look in the mirror. I did, recently, have to buy all new clothes. In that process, I found my last new suit (worn once). Now I just purchased a few new suits amongst other things so I figured I would try it on and man, was I floored. the thing was HUGE on me.

Now I am still a very large man (and working to become less large by the day) but by comparison, it is amazing. Keep on working on it and try and get a little rabid form time to time (I have been adding a lot more exercise and a lot of varied exercise to try and accelerate weight loss or at the least change body composition).

One of my hobbies is broadcasting. I have a YouTube channel for fun and the first folks that really noticed were my viewers on the channel. I can't tell you how touched I was when I posted a video after a significant hiatus and had a page of comments congratulating me on the weight loss (the content was totally unrelated).

Seems like you are doing great. Use the measurements and photos as your guide and happily take the compliments you get. You deserve them!

First of all, you are doing GREAT! Keep up the good work.

We were in the same predicament when I was at that stage of my weightloss. Lost 30 lbs already, but I still don't see any effects.....I was still wearing the same clothes, and people still don't see that I am losing weight.

I started seeing the effects of my weightloss when I reached 50 lbs. I moved from a 6x shirt to a 5x shirt. My pants became loose also, and I found that I had to add more holes on my belt. But at this stage, people still don't notice that I'm already getting smaller. They only started to notice the change when I lost around 80 lbs.

I've lost 100 lbs already, and I'm now wearing a totally new set of clothes: my waist from 60 to 48 inches, and my shirt from a 6x to a 3x. It really feels good.

You are doing great. You'll be wearing smaller clothes in no time.

And like what Jack said....measure and photograph yourself once in a while. I take a photo of myself with and without a shirt every month, and I can definitely see the change!

The photos definitely help. I am down over 130 pounds in the last 9 months and don't see it in the mirror because I look at my gorgeous face every day but when I ever put the before and after together I creamed my jeans!!

This is the 101st time I have posted this but I can't get enough of it

I was almost as high as you when I started just less than a year ago. I also didn't notice the difference right away but the people around you will. When you look in the mirror you wont really be able to tell because its so gradual and you see yourself every day. Pictures are the way to go. Take some pictures of yourself every week then look back and compare. It's still shocking to me when I do a comparison because I still feel like I'm a lot bigger than I am but I guess the mind doesn't keep up with the body. here are my before and after just for reference

hey guys,

I so can relate to this post. Went in for my second fill on friday and was down 37 pounds so far. My starting weight was 380. I notice my pants getting bigger(lost 2 inches around my stomach area). But I don't see any changes. I have COPD so exersising is hard ...well that and being lazy!! Ha Ha. Many people have come up to me and told me how good i've been looking since losing. I just don't see it

Diane at True Results says that mentally it can take 3-4 months for your brain to catch up with your body. So when i lookin the mirror, I might finally say "wow i'm getting smaller" Now don't get me wrong I can tell something is happening, I can tie my shoes, feel the soft skin what is starting to sag (yuk) but i can't wait to lose more so I CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE.

My hardest thing is eating slow. I grew up in a family that power eats. Sit down, shovel it in and done! That's been the hardest part. For a while I thought my band was broken, I heard so much about people sliming and I haven't yet. Thank God. The mental part is the hardest for me. Mental hunger sucks!

I get guilt when i eat and feel real full. In diet days that meant your not doing it right. So i have to get over the guilt. I started doing a food journal on lapband.com today and so far i've eaten 1170 calories. But in my head I ate 3000 calories based on how full i was. Does that make sense?

I'm happy that people are using this site. Support is hard to find .

Thanks for letting me go on

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
