Thats from the gas that they pump into you during surgery. It takes a few days for that to be gone. Try some Gas-X strips if you aren't already and walk as much as you possibly can. Right now you are in the healing process. It will take probably a good 2 weeks before you feel 'normal' again. Just try your best to get the fluids down. Did you get a fill during surgery?

Also a heating pad might help you. By the way CONGRATULATIONS!! It does get better. Hang in there. And if you gotta let the air out..GO FOR IT!!

I hope you aren't trying to eat solids. It will get better. Sometimes the gas pains can last a while. Give it a few more days. Walk a lot, that should help.

I walked the neighborhood with my daughters. I, too, used Gas X strips (take more than one at a time) and adult strength liquid Tylenol helped. If it gets too bad take the pain meds your doctor prescribed. I had to take them for 3 days but everybody's different. You may need them longer. It will get better. I promise. Best wishes and welcome to Bandland!

It takes time to go away. I had the really bloated gassy feeling too. It's from the surgery process.

I was on Clear liquids for two weeks after surgery which helped a lot.

I also used GasX strips. They helped quite a bit.

I agree about the heating pad, it was very soothing. Walking also helps quite a bit. Someone told me to "stay ahead of my pain" and that really helps. Don't be stingy with your pain meds esp. when you go to bed. You want to get as good a nights sleep as you can, that's when you're body heals. I felt better after about 5 days and now it's been four weeks and I don't even feel like I had any surgery. Hang in there!

Walking is the only think that helped my gas pains (that and every pot hole between the hospital and home!). It's a miserable feeling but it does go away eventually.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
