Alexandra Marie 0 Posted June 16, 2010 Hey everyone, my name is Alex and I'm 20 years old. At age 19 and weighing 295lbs, I had my lap band surgery in December of 08. Unfortunately after months of no progress I finally managed to convince my Dr. that something was wrong, and I had my port replaced in August of 09. Since then I've lost over 80 lbs, and it has been a struggle, but my weight is steadily dropping and I'm on my way to being happy and healthy. I hope this forum can provide information and support during my journey, and maybe I can help a little too. Best of luck to everyone.

SuzanneG 1 Posted June 16, 2010 Welcome, Alexandra. You've done amazing with your journey. I was curious, how did you know something was wrong with our port? What were your symptoms? I have a friend that I met online here who has never lost with the band and we are constantly trying to come up with ideas that may help her.
Alexandra Marie 0 Posted June 16, 2010 Welcome, Alexandra. You've done amazing with your journey. I was curious, how did you know something was wrong with our port? What were your symptoms? I have a friend that I met online here who has never lost with the band and we are constantly trying to come up with ideas that may help her. Well, I knew something was wrong because every time I'd go in for a fill, they'd put in more Fluid, but the tightness would only last a day or two before I was starving all the time and could eat anything in large quantities very quickly, as though I didn't have the band at all. It was months of this running around before I finally managed to convince the doctor to take out what he'd put in and compare, and I was missing most of the Fluid that was supposed to be in my band. I recommend that if she's still able to eat normally despite multiple fills, she talk to her doctor about it seriously, since mine was very reluctant. Hopefully that's helpful. And thank you both for your well-wishes.
SuzanneG 1 Posted June 16, 2010 Thanks. I'll ask her about her fill history. Keep up the good work!
