Hello i have been coming on this web site since i first started my nutrition meetings. I think it is very helpful. Well i finally have a surgery date june 24 is the big day. I'm at that time where i'm kind of going back and forth with myself, but i know i have to do and that im going to be okay the surgery is the easy part it's what comes after i'm nervous about, but i will just take it minute by minute and eventually that will turn into day by day.

I was banded on June 7, and yes the 1st 2 days were pretty rough for me, by day 3 and every day after that it gets better. You will do great....think positive. I lost 18# for my first week, with NO preop diet or weight loss. Good luck to you! and keep coming back to the forum, its great help!!!

I was banded Feb. 10, 2010 - it took me about 6 days to really feel like myself again.

This forum is great - as long as you remember that each person on here is different, and each of our bodies is unique. I had to constantly remind myself to stop comparing/contrasting my healing time, weight loss, exercise routines, etc. with everyone else's.

Danielle hit the nail on the head - think positively! You're on your way to a healthier you! :)

I'm going to tell you a secret. I was thoroughly petrified going into surgery. I kept telling myself that I could still back out right until they put the mask on my face. When I woke up, I wondered just what the eff had I been thinking. Two days later, the pain has subsided some and I realize that life will be much richer for my decision.

Thanks everyone for the support. I do appreciate it bunches. I am now doing my full week of liquids only, its going okay. I'm glad i'm at work because being home and bored is worse. Oh and my doctors office called the other day and told me they needed to do my surgery on the 25th instead of the 24th so i have to be nervous one more day.

it is perfectly normal to be nervous, i think everyone who has gone through the surgery has been nervous....just keep in mind that everything will be fine and your surgery will be a success. Godbless and goodluck:thumbup:

I sat next to a woman in the nutrition class today and we were talking about being nervous. Our surgeries are the same day. It was funny, she was nervous about being able to follow all the new ways of eating, etc. I asked her if she was nervous about the surgery itself, because that is my main fear! She wasn't nervous about that at all! I feel like I'm making a deal with God everyday about this surgery...I'm VERY nervous about being put to sleep (first time). I feel like when I wake up from the surgery itself it will be the happiest, most relieved moment of my life and I won't even care about how much pain I'm in  Then reality will sink in and I'm sure I will go through all the ups and downs of life again, but will be happier knowing that the surgery is DONE!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
