It has officially been 4 weeks since I got banded and I have been eating some what normal food taking it really slowly staying away from bread and rice and red meat. One thing is that I have been burping a lot! After every meal is this normal? Or am I doing something wrong I still have not got my first fill I will go in on July 19th..another question how about coffee? Is it too soon to drink some? I only have it in the mornings about 8oz. or less with artificial sweetner..Can someone please let me know if this is normal or if I should change something...

I think it is common to burp more once you are banded. I for one am the burping queen, although the last couple of days it seems to be coming out the other way which is far more embarassing!

I didn't have a burping problem until Friday when I got my first fill. Now I burp A LOT more than I ever did before!

Yep, it's normal - frustrating but normal. My surgeon keeps trying to tell me that it's becuase I am swallowing too much air when I drink or eat. He's full of crap. I don't know where exactly it comes from but I know it's not all from swallowing air when I drink.

This has happened to me more as I get more fills. When I told the PA about it, she told me that for some people, it is their "full signal", and its time to slow way down or stop eating.

I am 8 weeks post surgery and still burping but also get a pain between my rib cage with it, so annoying and painful at times.

I also burp a lot more than before being banded.

However, those who mentioned hiccups-- my dr said hiccups are a sign that you're eating too quickly.

Makes me wonder if burping might also have to do w/that?

Oh wow! I hiccuped aftermy first fill forever then the burps after eating started. I can burp like crazy now! I was told it was normal and means I am full. (The burping) And I agree with the eating too fast and hiccups. Thats when mine happen.

Learning to slow down.

Definitely notice the difference after the fill. If I eat too fast, or not chew enough its right there!

I call it one of my "gentle reminders".

My surgeon said he loves all the names bandsters have for burps. Juicy burps, rolling burps, productive burps, slimy burps, stinky burps, gurgling burps (aka burgles-from s fellow LBTer!)

Yep, burps and bands go together like peas and carrots.
