What size Band do U have?

Recommended Posts

I went to my Dr today for my first post-op visit. (surgery 6/9) I asked him what size band he used and he told me the largest a 14. Now me thinking I am tiny 4'11" (197lbs) I was like wow thats a huge band, its just gonna take me longer and longer to reach restricton. What size band do you all have and at what point did you feel restriction? I feel absolutely NO restriction now and can drink fast and alot without it bothering me...hope it all cahnges once i start with my fills.

I have a 10cc band that is over half way filled. I didn't reach 'real' restriction until this last fill in May, so that would be my 4th and it took me to 5.3 ccs to feel it. Wonder why he used such a big band, given you definitely started on the lower end of the spectrum? Ah, I chalk that up to every doc is different I suppose.

Good luck!!!

I, too, think it strage that he used the 14cc for you. My docs reserve that size for tall ppl, and you do NOT qualify!!! I do wish you a speedy arrival at restriction.

I also thought that I had a 10cc band until yesterday and found out that I also have a 14cc one! My first fill was 2.5 cc - no restriction, second another 2.5cc - again no restriction. Monday at 3 months and 1 week got my 3RD fill of 2cc which brought me to 7cc and I deffinitly feel restriction today. Hopefully it will stay that way, but I do have an appointment for 4 week from now for an adjustment.

I am taller - 5'9" but my surgeon said that he uses his judgement at the time of surgery due to size of the stomach, thickness, positioning etc. In the end - it really does not make any difference!

Good Luck!

Cynthia

That does seem like a very large band for such a small person, but what do I know?

I am 5'7", started at 264 lbs. I have a 10cc band.

it does seem like a big band for your size but my surgeon told me that no matter the persons size everyones is different inside and sizes of stomachs very! so the 14cc band probably fit you alot better than the 10cc.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
